One year on from the devastating hurricanes Irma and Maria, Professor Lee Miles returns to the Caribbean.
The inaugural Tourism Resilience Summit of the Americas took place this year, one year on from the devastating impacts felt across the Caribbean as a result of Irma and Maria. Professor Lee Miles returned to the Caribbean following visits in July 2017 and July 2018 to deliver a key note address on ‘The Challenge of Global Disruption: Pinpointing Single Points of Failure in Caribbean Disaster Management and Resilience’.
Having worked globally in pinpointing 'Single Points of Failure' for Tourism organisations, including a research project focused on Single Points of Failure in the British Virgin Islands and another addressing Hotel Resilience, Professor Miles was well placed to comment. Fellow speakers included the Tourism Minister for Jamaica Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Dr Talib Rifai, former UNWTO Secretary General and Dr Mario Hardy, Chief Executive Officer of the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
