Joining the programme this year are nine students; four full time and five part time, bringing together a wealth of knowledge and experience from emergency management sectors around the world. Developing Policies and Plans is one of two core units on the MSc programme and provides students with the core foundations of Disaster Management; understanding and managing risk, strategic operations, major incident management and planning for recovery. The week ended with a full day planning exercise where by students were required to create a disaster management plan for a fictitious country considering disaster risk reduction, response and recovery elements. Students will continue their academic studies over the next one/two years choosing from a range of subject topics.
