Freetown Facilitators Guide to Disaster Management
This month the BUDMC team led by Professor Lee Miles alongside colleagues in Freetown, Sierra Leone published and distributed the first Facilitators Guide to Disaster Management for Freetown.
The guide has been widely circulated amongst all Freetown Districts to aid Disaster Managers in responding to crises including; flooding, fires and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team also participated in a number of virtual workshops to build familiarity and competence in using the guides amongst officials on the ground. The guide contains a number of practical tools including risk matrix and rip out communication aids. These will help to inform best practice and assist Disaster Managers during response and recovery phases.
BUDMC looks forward to continuing to work closely with Disaster Managers in Freetown and Sierra Leone as they continue to develop their Disaster Management system countrywide.
